Swahili Fashion Week Pre Show Lauch in Arusha, Tanzania.

Swahili Fashion Week, East and Central Africa largest fashion event, now in its Fourth year, will be held at The National Museum  on the 10th, 11th and 12th November 2011 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

"This year we have grown tremendously as we taking it to higher heights as the pre event show of Swahili Fashion week will be held in Arusha referring it as the headquarters of East African community, and then later the main event to be held in Dar es Salaam, so long as we opening fashion to new audience and keeping the tradition of being the first in achieving different goals in fashion industry." Stated Mustafa Hassanali


This year the pre event show will be held at New Mount Meru on the 8th Oct 2011 from 8pm onwards courtesy in Mount Meru Hotel who are graciously hosting this event


"with more than 15 designers  from all over Tanzania showcasing their collection, there shall also be some entertainment from a renowned artist in Tanzania, as part of an outreach programme of taking the work of Tanzanian and East African Designers more regionally", stated


As we expands our wings Swahili Fashion Week recognises different angles of raising awareness of Fashion and its related industries s around it, and for the first time in the history of fashion in East and Central Africa, Swahili Fashion Week launch  Swahili Fashion week Awards, in recognition of various stakeholders in the industry as well as people around it.


The public will be allowed to   judge by casting their votes and the winners who will be audited by PKF Tanzania will be awarded during the awards ceremony on 12th Nov 2011. Some of the categories this year are, Best Male Model of the Year, Best Designer of the year, Best Female model of the year, Best Promising Upcoming Designer, and alike.


"Without forgetting  the presence of the young generation in Tanzania, for the first time Swahili Fashion week shall launch the T-shirt graphic  design competition aimed at engaging the young and their creativity as part of expanding our fashion family especially when we celebrating our 50 years of independence", added Gillian Rugumamu

Swahili Fashion Week is a fast growing platform for fashion and accessory designers from Swahili speaking countries and the African continent to showcase their talent, market their creativity and network with clientele and the international fashion industry. This is all aimed at emphasizing to the region that fashion is an income generating creative industry, meanwhile promoting a "Made in Africa" concept.


Swahili Fashion Week is NOW the largest annual fashion platform in East and Central Africa, to date. In its fourth year, Swahili Fashion Week will be celebrating Tanzania's 50 years of Independence, by bringing together 50 designers from Tanzania, Its neighbouring countries and rest of the world in celebrating its "UHURU".

Having initiated a dynamic and promising platform for the fashion industry in the region, Swahili Fashion Week is now geared towards being the most sought out after fashion platform in Africa for the international market founded, created and conceptualised in year 2008 by Mustafa Hassanali.
